Class Styles

At Shala, we offer a wide variety of classes to cater to all levels and preferences. Whether you're looking to build strength, increase flexibility, or find relaxation and mindfulness, our diverse class styles ensure that there is something for everyone.

Hatha

Hatha Yoga offers a traditional and grounding practice, perfect for building a strong foundation in yoga. Derived from the Sanskrit roots 'ha' (sun) and 'tha' (moon), Hatha Yoga brings balance to your practice. Focusing on fundamental postures, alignment, and breathwork, this class deepens the connection between body and mind. Ideal for beginners or those who enjoy the benefits of a slower practice, it combines breath and movement to develop strength, while nurturing inner peace and stability.

Vinyasa Flow

Our Vinyasa Flow class synchronises movement with breath, creating fluid and smooth sequences that focus on building strength, flexibility, and balance through dynamic poses. This invigorating practice is suitable for all levels, offering modifications for beginners and advanced options like arm balances and inversions. Each class aims to help you move beyond everyday distractions, guiding you towards a quieter, more centred place within. A basic level of fitness is recommended to fully enjoy and benefit from the practice.

Power Flow

Power Flow is a dynamic practice that helps you connect deeply with your body, shifting focus away from the mind and into physical awareness. This practice weaves strength, flexibility, and endurance with mindfulness and intention. The intensity of Power Flow encourages you to explore your boundaries and transform self-perception, cultivating growth both on and off the mat. This class is not suitable for those new to yoga as it requires experience with the poses to fully engage with the intensity and flow.

Slow Flow

Our Slow Flow class offers a mindful, nurturing practice that invites you to move with ease and intention. With a slower pace than our Vinyasa Flow classes, this class offers smooth transitions and longer holds that allow you to fully connect with your body and breath. Perfect for beginners or anyone seeking a more grounded, gentle practice. It's an opportunity to slow down, find balance, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.

Foundations (Beginners)

Our Beginners Yoga class is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of yoga, including basic postures, alignment, and breathing techniques. Perfect for those new to yoga, this class offers a solid foundation to help you build your practice with ease. Through clear guidance and a supportive environment, you’ll gain confidence and comfort in each pose, setting you on the path to some of our stronger, more dynamic classes.

Yin

Yin Yoga targets the deeper connective tissues in the body, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. This class involves long-held, poses that encourage deep stretching and mindful stillness. While Yin promotes a sense of calm, it requires focus, making it a rewarding challenge for both the body and mind. It’s perfect for those looking to balance their more active practices or to deeply stretch and rejuvenate.

Pilates

Our Pilates class blends precision, control, and mindful movement to awaken your core and strengthen your entire body. Rooted in the principles of alignment and stability, this class offers a series of intentional exercises designed to create deep muscular engagement and a satisfying burn that leaves you feeling strong and energised. It’s the perfect practice to compliment your yoga practice and cultivate a deeper connection to your body.

Sound Healing

Sound healing is a therapeutic practice that harnesses the vibrational power of sound. Using instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, and chimes, sound healing creates a sonic landscape that resonates with the body's energy centres. By immersing yourself in healing vibrations, you can experience a state of meditative tranquillity, enhanced self-awareness, and a deep sense of inner peace.

Breathwork & Meditation

This class offers a powerful combination of meditation, breathwork, and kriyas, dynamic techniques that use movement, breath, and sound to shift energy and deepen awareness. At times, elements of Kundalini yoga are incorporated, bringing in mantra and breath practices to enhance mental clarity and vitality. Designed to calm the nervous system and restore balance, this class will leave you feeling lighter and deeply centered.

Pregnancy Yoga

Our pregnancy Yoga is thoughtfully tailored to support expectant mothers throughout all stages of pregnancy. This nurturing class focuses on gentle stretches, mindful breathing and deep relaxation to help alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as back pain, swelling, and fatigue. Each class is designed to prepare the body and mind for childbirth. Beyond the physical benefits, this practice creates a beautiful connection for you and your baby.

Yoga and Baby

Mum Circle

Our baby and yoga class is thoughtfully designed to nurture a deep bond between parents and their little ones. This gentle practice incorporates simple yet effective yoga poses, mindful breathing, and relaxation techniques, creating a serene environment for both parent and baby. Through shared movements and gentle touch, you’ll enhance your baby’s physical development and emotional security while also attending to your own wellbeing.

Everyone wants to hold the baby, but who is there to hold the mother? This is a space where you are held, where you can exhale, connect, and simply be. Bring your little one and settle into a cosy circle of mums who understand the beauty and challenges of this season. Together, we’ll share stories, journal, reflect, exchange wisdom, and sip herbal tea while our babies enjoy tummy time and gentle sensory play. A space for you and your baby, where they feel safe, and you feel seen.
